Drybrushing
In this step you will not be using mixed paints, as the whole point is to have the driest brush possible
while still having pigment on the bristles.
1. Load some paint on the brush from a paint pot and remove excess by scraping off on the inside lip
of the pot so that it flows back in with the rest of the paint.
2. Wipe the brush back and forth at a flat angle on paper towel so that most of the paint comes off but
there remains a light dusting of paint on the paper towel.
3. In a quick back and forth motion draw the brush across your mini so that the paint comes off
highlighting the highest points of the model and allowing the recesses to show through the previous
color.
4. Repeat this step until you achieve the desired result. Experiment with how much paint you leave on
the brush and how hard you draw your brush across the model.
This technique may be applied to small areas or the entire model. If you prime the model black, you
may want to do this with a grey color so that you can make out the details. This will produce an effect
similar to a guide coat. It is very popular to achieve metal effects if used over black.
